 What are we?

Speedcraft Composites was founded to fill the need in the automotive composites industry for qualified, professional repair of Carbon fiber parts. While analyzing the automotive industry two facts emerge:

• Composites and especially carbon fiber are the undeniable future of the industry
• A false belief that repair of damaged carbon fiber is almost impossible and that a whole part has to be replaced in every case

Though not simple, carbon fiber can be repaired.  

• In most cases repair is more cost effective than replacing the whole part
• Carbon fiber repairs have been done for the last 30 years in aerospace, high performance car and boat racing industries

In order to do a proper repair one has to understand how carbon fiber works and what gives it its unique qualities. Calculated considerations have to be taken of weave (warp/fill) directions of the fibers, the different directions of the weave from layer to layer as well as the matrix system used in the laminate, etc. The parts can be repaired with great success to retain the same properties as the original undamaged structure.

Who are we?

Stan Kaplan spent over a decade working with such industry leaders as Ferrari, Maserati, and BMW. He has also worked for both sides of the collision repair industry: The insurance company and repair facilities.

Stan has conducted extensive research and received certification from Abaris Training in Reno NV. Abaris is the leader in composites repair training and is the instructional organization for multiple branches of the US military as well as numerous international and private aerospace companies. Thus, Stan is qualified to inspect, asses and when possible repair damaged composite structures.
